Three Ireland delivers strong customer and revenue growth in h1 2019 with 4 rise in EBITDA to €98-million

Three Ireland grows active customer base by 7% to 2.3 million

Three Ireland has recorded strong results for the first half of the year with EBITDA earnings increasing by 4% to €98 million driven by a 7% rise in active customer base to almost 2.3 million.

Commenting on the results, Robert Finnegan, CEO of Three Ireland said: “The strength of our network and the quality of our customer service continues to attract new customers to Three. In the first half of 2019 we have delivered a 7% growth in our active customer base of 200,000 to 2.3 million compared to the same period last year.”

“Today’s results show 2% revenue growth in the first half of 2019 despite the negative impact on revenues of lower MTRs and roaming regulation.”

“Three Ireland has an average monthly churn rate of 1% for contract customers, which is a testament to the enhanced customer experience we have delivered and our continued investment in our network and digital transformation programme, with capital expenditure of €56 million in the first half of 2019.”

Robert Finnegan continued: “Overall data traffic on the Three Ireland network has increased by 43% year-on-year and over 83% of all our data is now 4G.”

Three retains its position as Ireland’s leading 4G network, carrying more data than all other operators combined. In Q1 2019 Three carried 65% of the total data volumes in the mobile market, close to two thirds of the country’s total mobile data.

“Our continued growth is a result of the incredible work from our teams across Dublin, Limerick and our stores nationwide as we deliver an unrivalled network, high quality customer service and a great brand experience.” Robert concluded.

Three Ireland’s interim results for the period January to June 2019 reflect a strong performance in the first six months of the year, with a 4% increase in earnings before interest, tax and depreciation (EBIDTA) to €98m.
