Data Protection and Privacy Lawyer at Three
Fergal has more than a decade of experience in Data Protection and Privacy practice. He has worked on a number of the most significant Data Protection cases in the EU, including a successful challenge and referral to the European Court of Justice of European Union Data Retention laws.

He has worked on an advisory basis for some of the largest data controllers in the country; creating data protection policies, preparing for audits by the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner and preparing documentation for clients engaging in personal data with particular regard to compliance with Irish and European Data Protection law.

As well as advising on Data Protection and Privacy compliance and leading GDPR readiness at Three, he lectures in Data Protection Law at the Law Society and participates in pro-bono work, advising charitable and voluntary organisations of their obligations under the law and assisting individual clients on a case by case basis. This work has included making written and oral submissions to Oireachtas committee hearings.

Fergal's writing on legal and privacy issues has appeared in print and online in publications including The Irish Times, Daily Mail and TheJournal.ie. He also speaks regularly on broadcast media on legal, privacy and information technology matters, and has contributed to national radio stations Newstalk, Today FM and RTE Radio One and Two, as well as RTE and TV3 television.
