Three launched in 2005 and is Ireland's fastest growing mobile network. Three operates Ireland's largest high speed network. Three has 27.8 million customers worldwide and is Europe's leading 3G operator. Three is the market leader with over 200,000 mobile broadband subscribers in Ireland and 5 million worldwide. In December 2008, Three won the Government contract to roll-out broadband services to the final 10% of Ireland under the National Broadband Scheme. Three is connecting the unconnected throughout rural Ireland. So far, Three has invested €600 million in building the Irish network and is investing a further €140 million and creating 170 new jobs as part of the scheme.
